Orthodontic Treatments
The Orthodontic Society of Ireland recommends that children have their first orthodontic assessment around the age of 7–8 years. At this stage, the permanent teeth are beginning to emerge, allowing potential orthodontic concerns to be identified early.
Not every child will require treatment at this age, and in many cases, monitoring growth and development is all that is needed. However, an early assessment can help identify issues such as crossbites, severe crowding, impacted teeth, protruding front teeth or jaw discrepancies, allowing treatment to be provided at the most appropriate time if required.
My goal is to ensure that treatment is carried out at the right time for each child, helping to achieve the best possible long-term outcome.
The teenage years are often an ideal time for orthodontic treatment, as most or all of the permanent teeth have erupted and the jaws are still developing. This allows many orthodontic problems to be treated efficiently and predictably.
Orthodontic treatment can help correct crowded teeth, spacing, protruding teeth, bite problems and jaw discrepancies, improving both the appearance and function of the smile. A healthy bite can also make it easier to maintain good oral hygiene and support long-term dental health.
I offer a range of treatment options for teenagers, including fixed braces and clear aligners, with treatment tailored to each patient's individual needs, lifestyle and goals.
I understand that starting orthodontic treatment can feel like a big step for both teenagers and parents. My aim is to make the process as comfortable and straightforward as possible, ensuring that patients feel informed, supported and confident throughout their treatment journey.
Every smile is unique, and I work closely with each patient and their family to create a personalised treatment plan designed to achieve the best possible result.
Fixed braces remain one of the most effective ways to treat a wide range of orthodontic problems, from simple alignment issues to more complex bite discrepancies.
Orthodontic treatment is not just for children and teenagers. More adults than ever are choosing to improve their smile, oral health and confidence through orthodontic treatment.
Whether you are concerned about crowded teeth, spacing, bite issues or teeth that have shifted over time, there are a variety of treatment options available. I offer both fixed braces and clear aligners, allowing treatment to be tailored to your lifestyle, preferences and orthodontic needs.
Orthodontic treatment can also play an important role in preparing for restorative treatment, including implants, veneers, crowns and other dental work. When appropriate, I work closely with your general dentist and other dental specialists to ensure treatment is carefully planned and coordinated, helping to achieve the best possible long-term outcome for both the health and appearance of your smile.
It is never too late to achieve a healthy, confident smile, and I am committed to helping each patient find the treatment option that is right for them.
Clear aligners offer a discreet and comfortable way to straighten teeth and can be an excellent treatment option for many teenagers and adults.
While often chosen for their aesthetic appearance, clear aligners can do much more than simply align crooked teeth. When carefully planned and monitored by a Specialist Orthodontist, they can also be used to correct a wide range of bite problems and more complex orthodontic issues.
Treatment is tailored to each patient's individual needs, helping to achieve a healthy, functional and confident smile while fitting comfortably into everyday life.
